Third Journal Entry

February 22, 2009 - Learning Fancy Cake Making
I made a cake for my mom's birthday the day before her birthday, and she and I ate it all in one day. So, I told my mom I'd make a cake on her birthday too so that she could have more cake, and also so that my sister and her boyfriend could have some too.

My mom brought out three pans for the cake. Two of them were small round pans for a multilayer cake, and the other one was for a small cake as she filled the pans with just a small amount so there would be leftover mix.

I had never known how to make a multilayer cake before, so I was really interested in learning how to do it. I was surprised at how simple it was. Just bake the two small pans, take the cakes out of the pans, frost one cake, put the other on top, and then frost the whole thing.

The whole process reminded me of how a Boston Creme pie looks, so I think I'm going to try making one of those next with my newfound knowledge! smiley.gif
